Project Overview:

Powerco require a new transmission line between Coroglen and Kaimarama in the Coromandel. The project required the establishment of line routes, detailed design and consenting of a new 110 kV transmission line. The line will be operated at 66 kV initially.

Edison Delivery:

Edison was engaged by Powerco to act as project manager, working closely with the network planning department to facilitate the following key activities:

1. Engaging with affected land owners in determining the preferred line route and pole placement, including preparation of option agreements, easement compensation assessments and effects on individual land owner's properties.

2. Managing and facilitating the local authority consenting process. This included the application to designate the transmission line corridor, facilitating all the specialists and providing specialist evidence at the public hearing.

3. Managing various specialists for the following disciplines:

  • Route options assessment, transmission line and geotechnical design.
  • Cultural impact, landscape and visual assessment.
  • Ecological and archaeological impact assessment.
  • Touch and step potential analysis, electric, magnetic and radio interference.
  • On-going land owner negotiation through the appeal process and into the build phase of the project.
