WEL Networks were constructing a new transmission line to connect the wind farm at Te Uku (10km South East of Raglan) to WEL’s Network at the Te Kowhai Substation, a route length of approximately 17km consisting of mainly steel poles installed on concrete pile foundations. The construction works were already underway when it became clear that they needed additional support to meet agreed targets. Significant penalties could have been imposed if the line build was not completed on time.
It was at that point that WEL called on Edison to deliver the following services:
Edison immediately put into place a daily monitoring programme before focusing on assisting the contractor to help them get the project completed on time without compromising on safety or quality. Alongside the Project Management of the line build, solutions to numerous technical obstacles were provided as well as liaison with all affected parties.
